Friday’s Five Favorites!

friday's favorites, five items - five highlights of the week - fünf favoriten der woche

1) Paradise is Now! Dieses wunderbare Kissen von Grafik-Designerin Philuko ist ein echter Hingucker. Und philosophisch obendrein. Unbedingt kaufen! Und als Sister-Kissen gibt es dazu Chevron-Muster in Gelb, die machen ebenso gute Laune.

2) Nachdem Garance Doré und Freundinnen den Trend schon letzten Herbst losgetreten haben, muss es unbedingt eine Sonnenbrille mit verspiegelten Gläsern sein! Meine Entscheidung fiel auf ein Modell von RayBan.

3) Neue Musik von Justin Timberlake. 2 Stücke darauf gefallen richtig gut. Das sind Suit and Tie und Let the groove get in. Ausprobieren!

4) Auf der Blickfang Design Messe in Köln entdeckt: den Designer Martin Hirth und seine Stuhlserie namens Loveless – School Chairs. Das Konzept: den Korpus von Schul-Stühlen aufarbeiten – das Resultat ganz sich ziemlich sehen lassen, oder?

5) Und dann: Stefan Sagmeister, von mir tief verehrter weltbester Top-Grafik-Designer und Jessica Walsh, eine 24-jährige Art Direktorin mit umwerfenden Ideen, haben fusioniert. Ein Spaziergang auf der neuen Website von SagmeisterWalsh und ein Durchstreifen der neuesten Projekte und Arbeiten daher sehr lohnenswert!

Find of the day: the Work of french Illustrator Malika Favre

As always I was searching online something totally different and found the work of this fab girl called Malika Favre. She is a french illustrator, currently living in London. I remember that I have seen something from her already but I lost her trail…. Her illustrations are fantastic. So she worked already for the big names like Gucci, Vogue, Wallpaper and more. Her last work seems to be the illustration of the new Kamasutra. Her colors are bold, the lines are very geometric, but still is there a special poetic touch. Just fabulous! Love it! I will definitely go for it and buy one of her illustrations, which are still affordable.

And please go ahead and look at her video she made for an exhibition last year! Just stunning.

Friday afternoon – Review time…5 favorites of the week!

So, today I had a new idea for my blog. It’s friday afternoon, and it just came to my mind, so here it is. My friday favorites of the week. Ok, some of them, let’s say – just five.

1) Alright, here we go. Let’s start with my new parfume. Oh, yes, it is a gift from my hubby. And yes, I did not find out so far, what he is trying to hide…. noooo, just kidding. I very much like the smell. It is special, ok it is eventually Hermes, so it has to be. And of course the packaging they do, is always super-elegant and it looks very sophisticated.

Colour-Blocking at home…

Do you like my orange color – blocking?

I really like bright colours. Even at home. I think they give such a great atmosphere to a room. But so far, I was only brave enough to buy coloured accessoires. But, a couple of weeks ago, for the first time in my life, I even dared to paint the walls of a room in a  bright (and dark…) color. Like my style&color-guru, Abigail Ahern, always says.

So, as I already bought me into a couple of orange things, I was thinking of something fitting. And after studying several color charts for hours and hours, discussing it back an forth with a friend and hubby, I came up with a tone simply called violet. Then there was Day X and the house-painter, the paint brush in his hand, asked me several times, if I really wanna have this morbid color on my walls. What, if he had known, that I would have chosen one even more vibrant, but that would have been a shortage to our domestic bliss.

So, I assume it wasn’t the best work day for the poor house-painter. But, so I spoke to myself, at the end of the day, it’s me who should be happy, or? And I am.

Jenna Lyons’s Dressing Room

I guess everybody meanwhile knows the creative director of fashion label J.Crew, Jenna Lyons, after her most prominent fan, Michelle Obama, is wearing a lot of JCrew’s clothes. I stumpled upon this picture on Habitually Chic in a post about her interior decoration at home. And among all the fab pictures about her former home, this one really made me looking twice. I really like this light-weight style and decoration of a dressing room. It has all the elements of making it cosy and chic at the same time. Oh yes, and of course I could image myself sitting there with a friend, having some tea and cupcakes and trying on a dozen of shoes while discussing with her which one to wear. Ok, if you too, do not have the 150 pair of shoes which are necessary to fill the shelfs, we can at least try to create the similar style of dressing room. Or let’s say a corner in the bedroom… Let me share with you my thoughts, what I think a dressing room (or where ever there is space) needs:

Trending: the metal spirit…

the metal trend is everywhere - in fashion and in home accessoires

Zuerst war ich ziemlich beeindruckt von einem Burberry Trenchcoat in blau-metallic und dann das oben abgebildete Kleid in pink-orange metallic! Das old-school-design eines Trenchcoats ist zwar dank Burberrys Chef-Designer Christopher Bailey schon längst passe, aber diesmal ging man noch einen Schritt weiter. Kurz darauf lief ich über die imm cologne (Möbelmesse Köln) und da war es wieder, dieses Gefühl, dass Mode und Möbelwelt immer mehr miteinander verschmelzen. Ich sah plötzlich überall “Metall”. Darunter junge Design-Klassiker wie die Bourgie Leuchte von Kartell, genauso wie Trend-Pieces der Möbelmesse wie der Sessel von Gervasoni.  Hier eine kleine Auswahl meiner Design-Favoriten:

We love Sale! Wer Lust auf neue Lieblingsteile hat…

Das aktuelle Wetter ist zwar alles andere als sommerlich, aber man kann sich ja schon mal umschauen, was denn noch ins Outfit-Portfolio des Sommers bzw. des Sommerurlaubs gehört.

Ein paar passende Stücke haben wir hier zusammengestellt. Vielleicht eine Tunika von Debbie Katz? Oder ein toller Cashmere-Sweater von Cashflow? Oder wie wäre es mit einem coolen Statement-T-Shirt für den Liebsten? Und das Beste daran ist, viele Teile sind im Sale. Das macht doch schon mal gute Laune, oder?

MUST SEE: Diana Vreeland Documentary

Thinking of DV there is only one sentence coming to my mind. The Eye has to travel – I guess the most famous sentence Diana Vreeland said. And it is so simple, pure and describes best the core and heart of her philosophy of how to create a stunning magazine.

While she was not pretty and named a “little monster” by her mother as a child she developed such a strong personality and became the Nr. 1 of the editiorial Fashion World, working in an industry spinning all around beauty and style for decades.

The documentary was produced and directed by Lisa Immordino Vreeland, the wife of her grandson, and was premiered in Venice in 2011. Since February 2013 out on iTunes.

Wir haben mal für euch ein paar Inspirationen für Geschenke und kleine Liebesbeweise gesammelt……:-)

1) Unspektakulär, aber dafür stilsicher – ein iphone 5 Case von JCrew. Falls er sonst ein absoluter Farbmuffel ist aber gleichzeitig Purist – hiermit ist der erste Schritt in die richtige Richtung gemacht, denn viele kleine Schritte führen auch zum Ziel….

2) Hey, diese Manschettenknöpfe sind nicht nur für Comic- und Superman-Fans der Burner. Oder habt ihr schon mal von einem Mann gehört, der kein Superman für seine Herzallerliebste sein wollte?
